The purpose of this job description is to outline the education, skills, and experience required to perform the duties and responsibilities within the role of Documentation and Risk Review Specialist at FinMkt. Key Responsibilities:
- Own this role as the voice of FinMkt for all risk-related inquiries: be knowledgeable and patient with consumers and merchants.
- Ensure all applications comply with internal policies, lender requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Analyze and review documentation related to identity, income, and other stipulations for accuracy and authenticity.
- Identify and resolve pending items in applications, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to obtain missing or corrected information.
- Extend courtesy and thoughtfulness to consumers and merchants during the application, working with FinMkt’s technical team when needed.
- Maintain precise and thorough records of consumer application documents, including necessary reviews, decisions, and any additional communications required to resolve stipulations within the company’s systems.
- Assess potential risks in documentation and escalate concerns to the risk management team as necessary.
- Deliver a timely and accurate summary of application needs, escalating when needed to finalize all steps for both the consumer and merchant.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve documentation processes and reduce processing times.
- Stay informed of changes in compliance regulations and lender requirements to ensure alignment in all reviews.
- Identify patterns and proactively propose solutions to improve both the consumers’ use of the application and the merchants’ platform experience.
- Assist in training team members on documentation and risk review processes as needed.
Requirements:
- BA in accounting, finance, business, or law.
- 1-2+ years of experience in risk assessment in SMB and consumer credit underwriting technology design and implementation.
- Experience with underwriting or risk models for financial institutions.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams and lead such teams when needed.
- Strong communication skills to effectively instruct others, summarize and articulate issues, and document findings clearly.
- Self-directed and motivated, with demonstrated ability to propose solutions and drive business understanding.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
- High degree of personal and professional integrity – consistent, trustworthy, honest, and fair in all dealings.
- Strong understanding of solutions-based selling to support data-driven decisions.
- Business acumen, problem-solving, and negotiating skills.
- Special consideration will be given to those with experience using technical platforms such as Jira, Intercom and other live chat tools.
- This position requires flexibility for evening and weekend hours as required.
- Candidates must have the ability to legally earn wages within the United States.
